Provision of Electricity and Water Services for new Premises, Establishments and Facilities

Provision of Electricity Service to all Premises, Buildings and Facilities:

When you want to construct a building at any location in the Kingdom, or when you are in need of increasing (additional) the load of electricity or divide it in an existing building, you have to notify the EWA as represented in the Directorate of Customer Services to coordinate the procedures of applying for the needed service. All applications for new service or increasing (additional) or division of service shall be submitted personally to the Customer Services Offices at Customer Services Groups. All applications for providing a service require the approval and seal of an Electrical Contractor authorized by the EWA. In order to enable the EWA to  provide you with the service of electricity smoothly, you are requested to read carefully the instructions and perform what is required:  don't hesitate to call on the Customers Relations Offices for further information or clarifications.

You can get the application form from one of the Customer Services Offices  groups and it must be filled and certified by an Electrical Contractor authorized by the EWA.

Requirements of applications for all kinds of Services:

  • Filling the application Form for electricity supply required.
  • Original valid Nations ID card (CPR) and a copy of  both sides.
  • Copy of commercial register (CR)  for buildings and activities other than domestic.
  • Copy of building permit certificate including conditions.

For applications for new service, in addition to the above, the following requirements shall be satisfied:

  • Filling of the Agreement form of electricity, water and municipality rates.
  • Copy of address specifying card.
  • Copy of ownership deed.
  • Number of an account with the EWA for the nearest existing building.

Procedures for passing the application:

The application will pass through different stages and channels till the issuance of the  Bill for the capital contributions fees for connection, which shall be sent to the address written on the application form.

After paying the capital contribution Bill, which shall be valid for three months from the date of issuance, the electrical cable will be installed at the required facility and stamped with the official seal to prevent any tampering of the connections or to exploit the electricity illegally.

The application shall be submitted to the group servicing your area.

Procedures for submitting electrical installation compellation and test certificate:

When the building is ready, a certificate of completion and inspection of electrical installations shall be submitted so that the meter can be installed and the service can be connected.

Such certificate shall be submitted after completion of installation of the electrical cable, enhanced with a certificate authorizing connection of electricity to the building, which will be  issued by the Directorate of Service Licenses at the Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs.

For acquiring the license for electricity connection you can contact to the municipality of your area.

When you want to construct a building in any location in the Kingdom, or if you are in need of connecting water service for the purpose of building or you want to increase the size of connection for any building, you can notify the EWA through the Customer Services Directorate to coordinate the procedures for application. All applications for new water connection or for increase of the size of connection must be applied  personally to the Customers' Relations Offices at the Customer Services Groups. In order to enable the Ministry to provide you with the required service smoothly and as quickly as possible, you are requested to read the instructions carefully and do what is required and don't hesitate to call on the Customers' Relations Offices for further information or clarifications or assistance.

  • Copy of commercial register (CR) for buildings and constructions other than domestic.
  • Copy of building permit certificate including conditions.

In most of the cases the issuance of provision of service Bill is done at the time of application but in some cases the application is sent to the concerned authorities so as to visit the location and after that the Bill can be issued and sent to the address written on the application form.

After paying the amount in the provision of service Bill, the application will be passed to the concerned authorities to provide the required services.
