H.E. The Chief Executive has signed contract agreement of 66kV Primary Substation


H.E. The Chief Executive of the Electricity & Water Authority, Sh. Nawaf Bin Ebrahim Bin Hamad Al Khalifa has signed this morning contract agreement with JBF S.P.C Bahrain for the development of 66kV Primary Substation to provide power supply to JBF Polyester Film Manufacturing Project in the Bahrain Industrial Investment Park (BIIP), Hidd at approximate cost of BD 5 Million  as follows:

Under this agreement the Electricity & Water Authority Bahrain will carry out all works related to installation of 66kV cable feeders and associated pilot / fibre optic cables by looping of the Authority’s planned “MARSA AL BAHRAIN BSP to AL ESTITHMAR AL SENNA’E 66KV circuitâ€‌ to JBF 66kV substation and carry out   work of supply, erection, testing and commissioning of 2x30 MVA 66/11kV primary substation through various pre-qualified and currently employed contractors of the Authority.

The completion of this Electricity project will ensure quality, smooth and dedicated power supply of 16.5 MW from the 66kV substation to the JBF plant to manufacture polyester and metalized film with a full capacity of 90,000 tonnes per year.

Works planned under this project are anticipated to be completed by February 2014. However, the Electricity and Water Authority shall spare no efforts to complete the 66kV substation within the scheduled timeline.

 H.E. the Chief Executive has stated that that the Electricity and Water Authority continues to support basic infrastructure in the Kingdom to cope with the country's economic growth and that this infrastructure should be at the highest levels of reliability, reliability and infrastructure compared to the world's best.
 
It was also indicated that these projects are part of a plan set by the Authority for development and expansion of the electricity and water transmission networks which is inspired by the wise leadership of Bahrain headed by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa to develop and reinforce the electricity and water transmission networks to meet the increasing demand for electricity and water in the Kingdom from various industrial, commercial and residential sectors, thus extending better services for citizens and residents of Bahrain and attracting foreign investments to Bahrain.
