ESRI GIS Middle East and North Africa User Conference ESRI GIS Middle East and North Africa User Conference
The Electricity and Water Authority in Bahrain actively participated in the ESRI GIS Middle East and North Africa User Conference that was held on Nov 10 to 12, 2009 under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister.

A booth was organized to share EWA’s GIS experience with the conference attendees. EWA’s Vice Chief Executive for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Sheikh Nawaf Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa was among the key note speakers for the event. His Excellency presented EWA’s vision regarding the future of the energy sector along with EWA plans in this regard.

Also as part of this conference, four papers were presented and submitted by the GIS core team at EWA, followed by a case study that was co-presented with Telvent (www.telvent.com).

• Engineer Elie Nasr, GIS Advisor, presented a paper entitled “Complete Project Tracking Framework @ The Electricity & Water Authority in Bahrain†• Mr. Ghassan El Eid, Head GIS Operations, presented the “GIS Operations Dashboard†paper. • Engineer Rashad Saab, GIS Business Development unit, presented the “Kingdom of Bahrain’s GIS Water Network under Significant Quality Control†paper.

• Mr. Kishore Kumar, GIS Technical Lead, presented the “Adoption of UML Techniques in GIS Application Development Lifecycle†paper. • Engineer Elie Nasr, GIS Advisor, presented along with Telvent representative, a case study regarding the Enterprise GIS Implementation at EWA.
